Online television network blip.tv today announced the closing of its second institutional round of capital, led by Bain Capital Ventures. Blip.tv joins other exciting companies in Bain's venture portfolio, including LinkedIn, Thumbplay, The Find, Tokbox and LaLa Media. Blip.tv closed its first round of institutional funding in June 2007 with Ambient Sound Investments, the venture capital vehicle of the four founding engineers of Skype.

Bottled Water Containers Now the Single Most Recycled Item in Curbside Programs

The national recycling rate for PET plastic bottled water containers (.5 liter or 16.9 ounce size) has improved by 16.42%, according to new data from two new studies: ''2008 Post Consumer PET Bottle Bale Composition Analysis'' and ''2007 Report on PET Water Bottle Recycling,'' both produced by the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR). According to data from an earlier 2006 bale content study for all beverages, the number of PET bottles counted per pound was approximately 12. In 2008, the total number of PET bottles increased to 13.78, a reflection of the dramatic increase in water bottle collection, as well as the continued lightweighting of other plastic containers. The 2007 NAPCOR study on water bottle recycling has determined that the recycling rate for water bottles is 23.4%, representing a significant 16.42% increase over the 2006 recycling rate of 20.1%.... Basic Concepts Continues to Protect the Fragile Antartic Ecosystem Against Oil Spills

The spill berm pictured was constructed of heavy-duty 32 oz. polyurethane with an 18" tall wall that is constructed to withstand the harsh environment and sub-freezing temperatures of the polar region. The Quickberm was designed to provide secondary spill containment for a 10,000 gallon fuel bladder. The site has two 10,000 gallon hydrocarbon bladders requiring two spill berms.

Today, Pure Revolution reveals its solution to address the extremely unsafe water conditions in rural Mozambique. These conditions were having a long-range health and economic impact on its people, so Pure Revolution custom-designed a PureOFlow water purification system. This system, which was donated a few weeks ago to a remote village in Mozambique is already improving conditions for its citizens.

Mozambique's limited access to raw water supplies makes it dependent on its neighbors upstream for about 50 percent of its surface water.
