russell peters
A Canadian-native of Indian descent, Peters began his career in comedy in the U.K. in 1995. Peters' routines are largely about his Indian background, poking fun at relationships between different cultures in a surprisingly inoffensive (yet funny) way.
This year, Peters is poised to make a huge breakthrough into major American television and is scheduled to star in his own sitcom on the Fox network -- a potentially huge opportunity for the comedian who's been working his way through the comedy club scene for years.
His Comedy Now! performance of 2004 remains one of The Comedy Network's most popular and requested shows of all time.
Peters has had some fun gigs as a rising star in the comedy circuit, including hosting British television shows like Late Night East, specials on The Comedy Network and performing at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem. He's been on Montreal's Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Club Crass on Channel 5 in the U.K. and two one-hour specials on Comedy Central. He's performed on the David Frost Comedy Festival Special, as well as touring across North American comedy clubs and international festivals in South Africa.
