While airlines "say" they are 100% compliant with the IATA's 100% e-ticketing mandate that went into effect just weeks ago, they're not, according to Tristan Schukraft, Managing Director, ID90 Technologies (ID90T). "This month's deadline saw the majority of airlines overlooking the automation of their employees' interline tickets, because those tickets fall into the 'non-revenue' category," he says.
While employee tickets are considered "non-revenue" for the airline (they don't make them money) - they nonetheless cost airlines a considerable amount of money. "It's easy to see how the non-revenue side of the business would be last to be considered, but airlines are losing out on new revenue through cost savings at a time when fuel could surpass $200/barrel in the next year, leaving the airlines in even more dire straits," says Schukraft.... Kohl's, one of the largest retailers in the US, is going green in Alaska. The specialty department store chain chose Federal Heath Sign Company to manufacture and install a new prototype LED letterset sign for its Anchorage location, the first Kohl's in Alaska.
In keeping with their 'green scene' initiatives, Kohl's chose LEDs to light the signs. The LEDs have proven reduced energy consumption, with the added feature of not dimming in cold weather. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recently released a report from ongoing monitoring of the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) showing an increase in the number of people in treatment for drug addiction who started at an earlier age.
The report tracked treatment admissions from 1993 to 2003 and the percentage of people in treatment who started using drugs before the age of 13 had increased from 12 percent to 14 percent during that time span. Students will have new opportunities for studying abroad this spring at a soccer training and Spanish language camp in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The camp owners, Joseph Bilotta and Corey Zimmerman, hope to broaden students' world view while providing internationally competitive soccer training and full-immersion language and cultural lessons.
