The power of the media is clear, but the best way to manage it is not yet so clear. Hotels must face issues related to resources, target demographics, online booking strategy, and more. First, a hotel must understand the social networking landscape, how it works, and where their hotel fits in. Social media is more about conversation, dialogue, networking, and information sharing. Marketers must be patient, honest, and non-manipulative in their approach and work to create strong relationships in these media.... (Continue reading)

We all know that if left unchecked, spam can drive you nuts, but what about the email messages from people you either want to or have to hear from? Are there some things they're doing that's making you swear at your computer screen every time you "hear" from them?
Peggy Duncan, author of "Conquer Email Overload with Better Habits, Etiquette, and Outlook Tips and Tricks," has been collecting these pet peeves from comments she receives in her email overload seminars and on her Web site (www.PeggyDuncan.com). She says, "These pet peeves are not only aggravating, but they're also contributing to email overload which is a huge problem in the workplace. Studies show that email overload causes people to work anywhere from one to two extra hours a day, either at work or when they get home. Another study showed that it reduces the IQ more than marijuana because of the constant interruptions that interfere with the ability to focus. The answer is to reduce the load on the front end, clear out the mess that's already there, and then get into the habit of dealing with each message as you open it."
1. Sending or responding to all to CYA (cover your butt). Stop sending to all if all do not have a need to know. You wanted to make sure you were covered so youre sending everyone on a list your answer-whether they 5a8 needed to know or not. Or you're sending a message to everyone because you're too lazy to select the appropriate recipients.... (Continue reading)

As a young teenager, Ron Johnson was frequently ill. He stayed in the hospital with rheumatic fever for one month and also lost an older brother to the same form of illness. Johnson also often fell ill after trying to play basketball and other sports. His doctors prescribed medication regularly until Johnson finally stopped taking them upon graduation from high school. Ironically, his health began to improve at that point. In 1979, he and his wife, Shirley, inherited a 100-acre hobby farm near Deer River in northern Minnesota from his father. The couple’s long career in organic farming began with their vows to “never use chemicals and never give up.” Over the years, the Johnsons gave special attention to their soil as they grew and distributed crops to relatives and friends. While the soil improved gradually, they noticed that the health of their relatives and friends improved. This led to the eventual establishment of Living Food Farm in 2002.... (Continue reading)
