High Satisfaction Marks Suggest Anesthesia Administered During Office-Based Procedures Provides a More Tranquil and Enjoyable Experience for Patients
These results are exciting, not only because they show that our anesthesiologists are meeting the needs of our patients, but that patients in general have warmed up to office-based surgery and anesthesia. With patient satisfaction so high, perhaps more patients will undergo important cancer screening exams such as colonoscopy and lives will be saved," said Marc E. Koch, MD, MBA, president and chief executive officer of Somnia, Inc. Koch also noted that while anesthesia administered in an ambulatory setting is a benefit to the patient, it is important to remember that anesthesiology is a complex science requiring the skills of highly trained and vigilant professionals. Patients should accept nothing less than the gold standard, a Physician Anesthesiologist. That is, a doctor who has finished medical school and several years of additional anesthesia training."
A total of 1,076 patients completed the survey, representing 39.4 percent of the mailed questionnaires. 93% of respondents were gastroenterology and colorectal surgery patients.
