Beached Dolphin Rescued by American Innkeepers on Mexican Island

A large male dolphin stranded himself Sunday morning May 18, 2008, on the coral on the beach just beside Villa La Bella, an American owned bed and breakfast, on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Their quick actions resulted in a successful rescue and release.

One of the workers Luis Alberto Romero Trujillo at Villa La Bella spotted the distressed dolphin around 8:45 AM Sunday morning when he went to hang the hammocks in the yard overlooking the beach. Eradicate Hose Abrasion

Blacoh Fluid Control recently was contacted by a large manufacturer of bulk chemicals. They use air operated diaphragm pumps (AODD) to load chemicals into tanker trucks through a 20 flexible/ 3" reinforced hose that lies on a concrete floor.

Unfortunately for the company, the pulsation generated by their AODD pumps caused the hose to shake back and forth, scuffing the hose on the concrete floor, and causing hose abrasion". Ultimately, these hoses would fail from abrasion due to the scuffing action. Like all those who preceded, served with and followed him, Jim Thew was willing to put himself in harm's way when he joined the U.S. Armed Forces at the age of 19.

When he left the Navy in 1999 - which included two tours of duty in the Persian Gulf - Thew looked forward to teaching his youngest son how to throw a football and ride a bike, camping, motorcycling trips and holding down a "normal" 9 to 5 job. He also dreamed of one day sitting in a rocking chair and watching his grand kids play. Life could not get any better than being the dad to three healthy children and the husband of Kumiko....
