To help Southern California supermarkets take advantage of this technology, Scala partner Captive Media Marketing (CMM) has developed CMM.LATV, a retail TV network catering to Hispanic shoppers. It allows manufacturers and retailers of all sizes to target a key consumer group in the region. In September 2003, I had a serious accident with a lawn mower. I was sent by life-flight helicopter from my local hospital in the Sharon Regional Health System to the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where I had a series of extensive surgical operations," says Rick. For more than 15 years, Hoosier Park Racing has run standardbred, thoroughbred and quarter horses at its track located about 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis. Out in corn country and at the end of a single power line, the track often experienced electrical power brownouts and blackouts caused by the summer storms in central Indiana as well as the growing demand for power in the area. When track owners decided to add a 90,000-square-foot casino to the facility, they didn't want to contend with continued outages. Instead, they turned to MTU Onsite Energy and the local MTU distributor, Clarke Power Services, for a standby power system that would keep the lights burning, the horses running and the electronic gaming machines dinging.... The most recent inductee, The Jakob Bengel Company, pioneers in Art Deco jewelry design, very nearly faded to obscurity. The story of the company is well worth telling and reading. Their intriguing history, including an alternative use of a technology known as Galalith (milkstone, Milchstein), and a quarter-century search for their roots by two devoted and thorough vintage jewelry collectors, is told in the article, "The House that Bengel Built". A German chain manufcturer of the early twentieth century, Jakob Bengel altered the landscape of costume jewelry with his Bauhaus styling and helped to change forever how the fashion and jewelry world viewed "imitation jewelry". On top of all this, the Jakob Bengel Company is once again re-producing some of their classic Galalith Art Deco jewelry designs, closely following the Bauhaus rule that "form follows function". The article about this fascinating company can be found at the Guyot Brothers website. http://www.guyotbrothers.com/jewelry-history/jewelry-hall-of-fame/bengel/Jakob-Bengel.htm... (Continue reading)
The Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year's holiday travel periods are among the busiest travel periods of the year. The Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year's holiday travel periods also have the highest reported incidents of lost luggage per passenger.
Prepared passengers can successfully survive the "Holiday Travel Lost Luggage Blues" by utilizing a few travel precautions:
Check In On Time - An average of 75% of lost luggage is lost or delayed due to passengers checking in for their flight at the last minute. During holiday travel periods passengers the airlines recommend that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to the flight's departure for domestic flights and three hours prior to the flight's departure for international flights.
Voluntary Bumping - Airlines routinely overbook flights. When a flight is overbooked the airline may ask for volunteers to get "bumped" to the next available flight. Passengers should avoid taking another flight at all costs as changing airplanes at the last minute will require passengers to travel on a different flight from their luggage and makes identifying the passenger's actual flight even more difficult.
Luggage Tags - Each piece of luggage must be properly marked with clearly identifiable tags. Luggage that is separated from other checked luggage will be considered undeliverable without any identifiable tags. Sealed, water proof tags should be securely attached and include the passenger's name and complete address.
Overbooked Flights - Avoid overbooked flights especially during holiday travel times.
Necessary Luggage - Passengers often check in additional empty luggage to bring back the holiday shopping purchases, gifts and treats that will be obtained on the trip. Only check in necessary luggage as unnecessary luggage utilizes valuable space that is needed by fellow passengers.
By heeding these travel precautions during peak holiday travel periods passengers will ensure luggage will arrive safely at their final destination and enjoy a happy holiday season.... (Continue reading)
