Rocking for 'Peace' Benefit Jam Session at Famed Foundation Room at the House of Blues Sunset Strip Featuring W. Ron Cooke, to Raise Funds for HYPE (Hold Your Peace Empowerment) Homeless Shelters

Detroit invades Los Angeles as the Foundation Room at the House of Blues Sunset Strip plays host to an exclusive performance by legendary bassist W. Ron Cooke's new band, The Detroit Culture Killers and the debut art exhibit by Detroit native, Janna Geary, Saturday, May 19, 2007, to raise funds to build HYPE (Hold Your Peace Empowerment) centers desperately needed for abused women and their children. A $15 donation is requested.

HYPE centers will provide empowerment tools for women who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual traumas and homelessness by helping them to heal, dream and take steps to make changes in their lives and in the lives of their children. "HYPE centers are needed to bring relief to those whose lives have been severely corroded by traumatic situations," explains Vivionne Keli, founder of HYPE. The Detroit Culture Killers prove that in the face of obscurity rock-n-roll still has heart, fire and soul. The band is comprised of founder, WR Cooke a/k/a Stoney Lonesome, Bass Guitar, Vocals, Song Writer and Musical Director; JB Sweet, Lead Guitar; Tommy Howie, Lead Vocals; and Mike Schneider, Drums. Cooke is a member of the fraternal order of The Detroit Wheels and co-founder of the fabled Catfish blues band, whose career spans three decades playing with notorious rockers such as Wayne Kramer and Fred Sonic Smith (guitarists from the MC5), the Sonics Rendezvous band, the legendary New York Dolls, Johnnie Thunders' band, and Gang War. Janna Geary, an emerging abstract expressionist is influenced by her roots in Detroit and makes her debut in Los Angeles with a compelling collection of paintings. Her paintings are a working effort toward recovery and uncovering the light behind the darkness. For more information, visit www.JannaGeary.com.
