The Bible Vs Video Games

Recently, there has been much debate, on both sides of the Atlantic, about the content of video games. Cooper Lawrence's totally misinfor 2da0 med attack on Mass Effect on Fox News, Kevin McCullough being equally misinformed on Townhall.com, Janice Turner of The Times thinks that games are "crack cocaine of the brain" and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has blamed them for knife crime. Even Hillary Clinton has had a go.

What all these critics have in common is that they do not play video games so they don't have the faintest idea what they are talking about, they are as relevant as blind cinema critics.... (Continue reading)

The Heart Knows the Way – How to Follow Your Heart to a Conscious Connection with the Divine Spirit Within, by Fern Stewart Welch

A half-century ago the late Swiss-born physician, author and lecturer Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross brought death and dying out of the dark ages into the light and allowed people to talk about it publicly as well as to die with dignity while surrounded by loved ones.

One of those whose life Dr. Kübler-Ross touched in a remarkable way was Scottsdale, Arizona writer Fern Stewart Welch, author of the recently published book, “The Heart Knows the Way – How to Follow Your Heart to a Conscious Connection with the Divine Spirit Within.”

During the process of the lengthy decline and death of her husband, Kenneth Welch, the founding publisher and former owner of PHOENIX Magazine, Fern was befriended and supported by the legendary “death and dying” pioneer, resulting in an extraordinary experience.

In “The Heart Knows the Way” Fern writes that during this process she was led to open to a conscious connection with the divine Spirit within and guided through the situation with her husband in a more loving, healthful, spiritually enlightening and life-affirming way.

“I learned that this was the way in which this profound and sacred event is meant to be experienced,” she says. “I was able to be consciously present with a loved one and share his last life journey in a way I had never heard of or read about.

“I was then able to complete the mourning without the lingering sadness and sometimes guilt that often negatively affects the health and future happiness of the survivor, and to face the future with joy and enthusiasm,” she adds.

Fern says that after her husband’s death, she realized that her experience was diametrically opposed to what many people have in a similar situation, and she then knew that this out-of-the ordinary occurrence should be shared with others.

“I also believe that the two inseparable facets of what I learned hold a key to the next evolutionary step for mankind: reclaiming our wholeness by connecting with the divine Spirit within, which will enable us to act and react from clarity and love, and coming to a deeper understanding of death and therefore being able to realize a more consciously aware, loving, meaningful and productive life,” she added.

Fern says that the soul of every person knows the timing, the path and the pace of the journey to a personal connection with God, and this is a journey every soul is meant to take.

She also indicates that if someone is open to learning how, they can accompany a loved one on their final life journey in this sacred way. Her book provides the step-by-step process by which she achieved this goal and details how others can follow the same path.

Before her own death Dr. Kübler-Ross read the manuscript of “The Heart Knows the Way,” and joined a number of bestselling authors and spiritual teachers in providing an enthusiastic endorsement for it.

“The Heart Knows the Way” is available from Amazon.com, other online booksellers, and from bookstore chains. It is available to the book trade from Ingram Book Company, Baker & Taylor, and other book wholesalers.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation.... (Continue reading)

Log Cabin Declares Victory Over Radical Right on Anti-Family Amendment

Today's procedural vote in the United States Senate on the anti-family Federal Marriage Amendment is an overwhelming defeat for the radical right. "This is a victory for principle over politics, hope over fear, and real family values over anti-gay propaganda," said Log Cabin Executive Director Patrick Guerriero.

"As many as 60 Senators were prepared to vote against the amendment. Rather than face certain defeat, the radical right took the easy way out-by turning this into a largely party-line procedural vote. For six months, the radical right has been clamoring for an up or down vote. Today they are hiding behind a procedural vote because their campaign to write discrimination into the American Constitution has been an unqualified failure," said Guerriero.... (Continue reading)
