What: Cabaret Voltaire Presents the The First Annual H.O.P.E. Awards, Hosted by Neil Hamburger.

The non-profit H.O.P.E. (Horrified Observers of Pedestrian Entertainment) began their campaign to wake up Americans by planning a heroic protest against Paris Hilton's book(Confessions of an Heiress)at Book Soup West Hollywood in Early September. The protest garnered news across the globe. H.O.P.E.'s second campaign, the Ashlee Simpson CD trade-in, afforded Simpson CD buyers the opportunity to swap their piece of dreg for one they consider of a "higher entertainment quality." The options listed on the organization's website include Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello CD's (courtesy of Rhino Records) The trade-in news was picked up by the AP wire and before you could finish saying rumble fish, H.O.P.E.'s website had 5 million hits and organizer Chris Jackson was deluged with interview requests from Philly to Australia (this is not a joke) It wasn't long before Simpson's agency and the record label had a shit fit and the trade-in was shut down. H.O.P.E.'s next campaign is a closely held secret, but organizer Jackson is in talks with two very prominent politicians to see if H.O.P.E. can assist in the future of media reform.
