Waite Park author, Nathan Allen, plans to donate several books to a local charity to spread the word about cancer. His new book, The Frisson Factor: Land of Ten-Thousand Lakes makes its official debut on March 1st, but pre-released copies will be available for purchase beforehand with the proceeds benefiting the Cody Foundation.
“It is a fantastic charity,” Allen says. “I am honored to be a part of it.”
The Cody Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization established in December 2002. Their goal is to raise awareness of children's cancers and other life threatening diseases. Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa today announced that it will launch its Renaissance and Revolution on the Hudson art and nature series on May 13, 2005 with the unveiling of Yanusz Gilewicz interpretation of Leonardo da Vincis 'Leda and the Swan. Gilewicz 'Leda stands 12 feet high by 9 feet wide and will be displayed on the exterior of the Inns barn. Additional works by Gilewicz will be displayed inside the barns upper gallery.
The Renaissance and Revolution series of art-related events at the Inn will run through October 2005, with special public viewing events held each month. Apparently, Home Depot has a policy of automatically charging a 10% Damage Fee on all its equipment and tool rentals, without telling customers that the fee is optional.
The fee has been listed as a “tax”, and in some cases, even if a customer has asked that the fee be removed, Home Depot has refused to do so.
The fee is intended to act as insurance to protect consumers against charges from accidental equipment damage, but not disclosing the fee, or giving a customer the option to accept or reject the fee, is a violation of consumer rights.... (Continue reading)
