Duke Energy and State Regulators Reach Agreement on Utility-Owned Distributed Solar Program

The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) commends the leadership of Duke Energy for finding common ground with the North Carolina Utilities Commission and reaching an agreement to move forward on the proposed $50 million utility-owned distributed photovoltaic (PV) program, the first of its kind in the southeastern United States. Under the terms of the agreement, Duke Energy will commission up to 10 megawatts of roof- and ground-mounted PV systems located on utility property, businesses, and homes, leasing customer roof space with the PV systems sending all of the electricity back into the electric grid. Drivers are forgetting their Ps and Qs according to a survey by Swinton with only a measly 2% of motorists always thanking other drivers when given way to.

Just one in ten drivers said they always gave way to other drivers and an astonishing 84% saying they do not give way to other drivers every time - choosing to give way to other drivers either half or just over half of the time.

According to the Department for Transport driver behaviour and in particular, aggressive driving has a direct impact on the number of accidents*. Swinton believes that people's rudeness behind the wheel is a major contributing factor to aggression on the road and therefore partly responsible for the increasing amount of accidents.
